One of the many things I love about being in the photo industry in nyc...

drinking for free at the events.

August 15th - 27th: Time to refocus and reenergize

Seeing as how slow times have left my employer unable to keep me on full time, she has been kind enough to offer to purchase me a plane ticket home to Mpls.

Being unemployed, for the most part, I figure what better time to go home, enjoy the silence, enjoy the company of my family, and get away from the chaos of the city, and the overwhelming stress of looking for new work on a daily basis.

August is a slow month in the industry and from what I've heard, improves greatly in September. I shall send out a batch of resumes before I depart and upon my return have people lined up to offer me work. That's the plan anyways.

So Mpls, I am returning once again. Not sure how much of you I will see...I will be busy enjoying pool time with my nieces, spending a day or two at my favorite lake, attending my hometown county fair, and devoting time to working on my fine art photography...

And I'm really looking forward to it.

Flea market finds...

Vintage baby pink leather boots $10

Vintage 70s sunglasses $12

Gray clutch $12

And last but not least...my new pride and joy...

SX-70 polaroid camera in great condition, with carry pouch, original instructions, 1 pack of film, and filters for type 600 polaroid film.
$100

Thank you fort green flea market!

Another fun-filled weekend in bk...

Saturday, great turn out at Slideluck Potshow. The show ran about 2 hours, which was a bit longer than expected, but some fantastic work was selected and it made it all worth it. Although...not enough photographs of objects and things. I will be submitting next time around and definitely changing that.

Sunday, Erika and myself attended the Fort Greene Flea Market yet again. This place gets addicting, no joke...the tacos alone are worth going for. I obtained several great buys, all of which deserve a post on their own (coming soon). Erika scored "Miss Piggys Guide to Life", what an amazing find!

And....finally made it over to McCarren Park in WB for the free Jelly NYC pool parties. This time around I was treated to the sounds of the Black Lips, King Khan & His Shrines, and Deerhunter. Definitely the place to be on Sundays...complete with slipe n slide, dodgeball, beer, burgers, music, and quite the fashionable hipster crowd.

I went to a taping of the Colbert Report last Monday. Got a tour and shook the man's hand twice.

It was fun.
