"I'm writing to let you know that the Studio Manager position has been filled but I really appreciate your interest in the position and taking the time to come in and meet with me. I wish you all the best."
Man, this city just loves to rain rejection doesn't it? Jobs, apts, men...rejection rejection rejection.
People tell you to stay positive and motivated because when something fails, that only means something better is right around the corner. I say, easier said than done. It's quite difficult to be the optimist when the moment you pick yourself up and dust yourself off from the previous let down, the moment another good thing seems to appear on the horizon, you realize you were wrong and you are knocked right back down on your ass.
Sometimes a girl can't help but start to take everything personally.
Go to hell September!

Tomorrow could potentially be the day in which I acquire a new apt AND a new job.
Waiting on two call backs for two different jobs. One a Junior Agent position with a Photo Rep, the other a Studio Manager position with a fantastic still life photographer. Also have my name in the basket for a Photo Editing position a friend of mine will soon be leaving.
Tomorrow night between 6 and 8 I will be looking at three apartments located in Williamsburg. Two of them are friends of friends.
Feeling very good about tomorrow.

Today...
Hungover and recovering from an awesome night showing Gina around the Lower East Side (Luciens, Living Room, Cakeshop, Fat Baby, Motor City).
Interviewed for a position with Nigel Cox.
Had a fantastic lunch and great conversation at Cafe Habana with Rich.
In the middle of working on a retouching job consisting of 18 interior shots.
In two minutes, I am off to visit Gina at her Target shoot in Times Square.
Possibly attending an AdhesiveNYC gathering on Pier 66.
After which I will be looking at yet another apartment. This one is in Greenpoint...with two dudes.
Update: Apt sucked and I stayed out until 3am at 7B.

Life in nyc is a bit intense at the moment, which is strange because I actually feel rather calm.
Currently looking for work and a new apt/roomate simultaneously...not fun.
Tomorrow I will be meeting with a guy over at Papa B about redesigning my website.
My personal photo project is coming together nicely, and I recently made friends with a freelance writer who is willing to write my artist statement in exchange for drinks.
Another friend has offered to print the images for Talman and Monroe at no cost.
Also, photo season seems to have come into full swing, and very quickly I might add, and I am yet again miss networking and socializing extraordinaire. Attended a large handfull of openings in the last two weeks, including David LaChappelle, and made a fair amount of connections. At the rate I am going, by this time next year I will know the nyc photo industry in its entirety. Kinda kidding, but not really.
Tomorrow night, agency party. Friday night, a friends photo showcase.
So in case you are wondering, life in nyc is still pretty much fantastic, regardless of the hardships.

Michael Thompsan opening was tonight...hot, sweaty, and packed. Ran into some familiar faces, networked, socialized...basically did what I do best...and made a few unexpected connections while I was at it.
Afterwards hit up the 10th Anniversary/Last Magazine Launch party at Milk Studios. Thankfully we got in. Totally rad party, consumed far too many free beverages, networked, met some super rad people, etc etc. About 45% of the guys there were walking around with skateboards (yeah, Milk has a ramp in their loading dock) super cute.
I had an early morning so the party ended for me around midnight...super lame, but duty calls.
Tomorrow night: David LaChapelle opening at 6-9pm @ Tony Shafrazi Gallery...
Should be a madhouse...get there early.
Peace out. Past my bedtime.

Back in action
Recently took a much needed two week escape back home to decompress. It was chill, quiet, and the weather couldn't have been better.
Here is a very much condensed version of what I was up to those two weeks:
Day at the lake, cheap vintage shopping, como zoo, kiddie pools, sun bathing, skinny dipping at 4am, acquiring new friends, bonding with the neices, house parties, beers with bff, pseudo highschool reunion, hangovers, stargazing, corn picking, comfort food, and many hours of the best sleep in a long time.
I hated to leave, but I'm happy to be back.
