Zink
Much thanks to Rich, I obtained access to the Zink Mag party last night.
Met a couple people. Drinks were free. Djs mash-ups were great. And the crowd was friendly, not to mention uber cute and trendy.
Pretty awesome when you consider my longtime love for Zink and my desire to work with them in the future.

The longer I am in this fabulous place that is New York City, the less time I seem to have to keep up with this blog. I don't know how people do it!
Between working, networking, socializing and time spent on the subway, it leaves little time for much else.
Began attending a monthly photo meet-up of all female assistants/young budding photographers. Good motivator to keep myself shooting every month.
Things may soon be changing on the job front...more on that later.
Mom came to visit last weekend. Aside from doing and seeing everything that makes you a complete tourist (a new yorker makes for the best tourist guide btw), we attended the Trec party where she met my photo assistant homies and drank for free, joined Richard for drinks at the elite Pego Club, which became a 4am night for mom (she was the one insisting to stay out), and had a fantastic brunch at Superfine in dumbo. Quite the first New York experience for mom, if I do say so myself.
Tomorrow I will be going home to Minneapolis for a full 10 days. No work (well maybe just a little), no networking, no schmoozing, no crowds, no noise. I'm looking forward to it.

Last Wednesday...
7pm: Attended Jose Picayo's crowded opening reception at Robin Rice Gallery with Rich.
Here I was introduced to the daughter of the one and only Irving Penn, a legend and master of still photography. Such an honor.
8pm: Walked over to a party at Industria with Miss Penn, Rich, and fellow photogs and friends Mimi and Andrew. The champagne overfloweth.
9pm: Found myself poolside with Rich and Andrew on the rooftop of the members only Soho House.
10pm: Fantastic Thai food at Republic.
11pm: Nightcap at Underbar at the W hotel Union Square.
Followed by a very picturesque, dimly lit, quiet walk around Gramercy Park...and I do mean around. You require a coveted a key to get in this park.
Try to beat that for a Wednesday night...just try.

Not only is it 70 degrees and sunny, but I found this...

One of the many cheesy horror movies from my childhood that I am determined to add to my collection. I could not find this movie anywhere without spending $30 on amazon. Until today, when on my way to the grocery store a hole in the wall video store called my name. I b-lined for the tiny horror section and the first movie my eyes see is none other than...The Gate.
Bought it for a mere $12, and in near perfect condition. Take that Amazon!
